We are committed to promoting the welfare and safeguarding all children at Holy Trinity Church School and expect everyone to share this commitment. In line with our safeguarding policy and statutory guidance we have clear procedures in school for responding to any concerns about a child’ s safety or wellbeing. All staff and adults are DBS cleared. We follow procedures set out by the Somerset Local Safeguarding Children Board (LSCB) and take into account guidance issued by the DfE in Keeping Children Safe in Education September 2016 and Working Together to Safeguard Children 2015 and September 2016.
The Head Teacher, Adam Beauford, is the Designated Safeguarding Lead and also leads on Children Looked After. Mrs Joanne Veryard and Miss Claire West are Deputy Safeguarding Officers and are also trained in the role of Safeguarding Leads.
Three senior members of staff have undertaken Home Office PREVENT training and are accredited trainers for the school - Mr Adam Beauford, Mrs Joanne Veryard and Miss Claire West. All staff have received training in PREVENT through the Home Office designated WRAP materials. A leaflet for parents has been sent home to all families and can be downloaded below. Please do contact Mr Beauford if you have any questions or concerns about anything related to this work.
We welcome any support offered by outside agencies and regularly use a range of NSPCC materials to ensure our children all have up to date information to support them.
Mrs Anna Phelps is our Safeguarding Governor and reviews our safeguarding procedures on a termly basis. She can be contacted via the school office. Please see the link to our website's contact page:
Safer Recruitment and Visitors to the School
The school is secure during the school day, so all visitors are asked to report to the main entrance. Please be mindful that for everybody’s safety, identification procedures will be carried out; a copy of which are displayed by the office for your information.
All members of staff are vetted against national safeguarding procedures before being allowed to work in school. At least one member of every interview panel has undertaken safer recruitment training to ensure that best practices and all necessary checks are carried out.
Staff in school work in partnership with other agencies such as Health Authorities, the Get Set Team, Social Care and the Police.
