We are committed to ensuring all children are safe during their time with us at school. All staff and adults are DBS cleared. We follow procedures set out by the Somerset Local Safeguarding Children Board (LSCB) and take into account guidance issued by the DfE in Keeping Children Safe in Education September 2016 and Working Together to Safeguard Children 2015 and September 2016.
The Head Teacher, Adam Beauford, is the Designated Safeguarding Lead and also leads on Children Looked After. Mrs Joanne Veryard and Miss Claire West are Deputy Safeguarding Officers and are also trained in the role of Safeguarding Leads.
Three senior members of staff have undertaken Home Office PREVENT training and are accredited trainers for the school - Mr Adam Beauford, Mrs Joanne Veryard and Miss Claire West. All staff have received training in PREVENT through the Home Office designated WRAP materials. A leaflet for parents has been sent home to all families and can be downloaded below. Please do contact Mr Beauford if you have any questions or concerns about anything related to this work.
We welcome any support offered by outside agencies and regularly use a range of NSPCC materials to ensure our children all have up to date information to support them. Mrs Anna Phelps is our Safeguarding Governor and reviews our safeguarding procedures on a termly basis.
Staff in school work in partnership with other agencies such as Health Authorities, the Get Set Team, Social Care and the Police.
